Developers Show Interest In Windows 7 And Nokia Joint Venture

According to a firm called ‘Flurry’ we could see a burst of activity in Windows Phone 7 projects thanks to developers and the Nokia-Microsoft-tie-up.

Sources indicated that even well before Nokia and Microsoft revealed the tie up earlier last week, the speculation of the new joint venture caused a surge in developer interest.

Flurry says that they saw a 66% jump in Windows Phone 7 projects starting ahead of the announcement.

3D “Worth Less” As TV Prices Fall To £599

Anyone could see this one coming and it’s finally been confirmed – 3D TV’s have slipped under £600 and there are a lot of reasons for this.

One of the main reasons is Samsung have managed to develop a 3D TV which you do have to wear the geeky glasses to watch it, but when you are sick of the glasses, within the touch of a button you can switch it back to 2D – great!

Two, 3D TV’s were released well before they should have been. We saw 3D in the cinemas and we could accept having to wear the glasses for an hour and a half to watch Avatar and the manufactures decided to jump on the band wagon and get 3D released as soon as possible.

Three, ‘Autoscopic 3D TV’s’ – you will start to hear this acronym a lot more in 2011 as it basically means 3D TV’s without the geeky glasses.

Activision Axes Guitar Hero

As an affluent gamer myself, I like to try out all of the latest games from Dead Space 2 through to Grand Turismo but I find that every time I go into the game shops, there’s always a newer version of Guitar Hero and Band Hero and I do find it quite hard to believe how people will spend a hundred or so pounds on all of the hardware and game just for Christmas or a birthday.

But it seems as if the US games publisher Activision have finally decided enough is enough and axed the game Guitar Hero after their latest edition failed to meet sales expectations – and I wonder why.

The publisher said in their financial statement that the game series was being discontinued because: “the popularity of music-themed video games has faded” and yes, it is rather true.

Windows Phone 7 Updates | What You Need To Know

Microsoft’s CEO Steve Bullmer took centre stage the other day back at the Mobile World Congress2011 in Barcelona to show off their next update eagerly due for Windows Phone 7.

The update is due to be released ‘later this year’ according to Microsoft and bring forward multi-tasking, cloud support and more to Microsoft’s smartphone OS.

Windows Phone 7’s current multi-tasking is more along the line of fast apps easily switching so the applications aren’t actually running in the background, they save their current state in the memory so you can pull them back quickly with little lag – hence the dedicated back button.

We were all planning on Dell unveiling their 10-inch tablet at CES2011 but no – no they didn’t. Dell managed to hold it off until their ‘Dell means business’ event in San Francisco just the other day.

It’s pretty self explanatory what happened at the event and it is exactly what it says on the tin – Dell unveiled a hell of a lot of products…39 to be precise and every one of them to target the business market.

Dell called this launch event- “the biggest product launch in the history of the company”.

Orange Unveil A New Tablet

As all manufactures are in the unveiling stage with CES2011 and MWC2011, were we expecting something from Orange? In all honesty – I wasn’t.

But it seems as if the network giant has unveiled a 7-inch Android tablet with 3G technology. No specifications have been unveiled yet but we can confirm is the ability for 3G, 7-inch capacitive touch screen and Android – Android 2.1 (really?).

With Motorola putting Honeycomb on their new tablet line-up and the spotlight all around Android 3.0 Honeycomb, isn’t Android 2.1 a little old?
