Lync is being re-branded as Skype for Business…

As many Lync users have discovered, the latest batch of Windows Updates included an update to Microsoft Lync. This update is the start of Microsoft’s plan to re-brand Microsoft Lync to Skype for Business.

This initial update has focused on re-branding Lync as Skype for Business with changes to look and feel only. No changes have been made to functionality as yet. Inline with this, SpiderGroup have applied a policy to revert the branding changes and retain the familiar Lync appearance. To initiate this, once you’ve applied the latest Windows Updates and opened “Skype for Business” for the first time, simply exit and log back in to see things return to normal.

But what if you love change and want to embrace all that Skype for Business is now?

Here at SpiderGroup, we understand that each of our clients and users are individuals and that you may prefer to keep the new Skype for Business branding. If this is the case, simply send us an email at and we will be very happy to arrange this for you. This can be applied on a per user basis which means everyone in your organisation can enjoy the new look, or just a few people.
